My life was easy, simple, fun.
My life was brutal, horrific, ruthless.
Light.
Dark.
Until I got wrapped up with the wrong people.
Until a beautiful bride was dragged into my life.
Nothing but a piece of property to pay for the sins of my father.
I took her as my prize and made her mine.
I’m to be married off to a handsome monster.
Vengeance never tasted so sweet.
I see his truths every day, and it’s hard not to fall for the enemy.
I see her truths every day, and it’s hard not to fall for a woman who makes me weak.
He won’t let me escape, but I’m not sure I want to.
She can try to run, but I have no intention of ever letting her go.
I wanted to marry for love, but it looks like love is a lie.
I wanted to marry for hate, but it looks like hate is a lie.

My Review

Phenomenal Conclusion ~ 5 stars

Stolen Lies is a phenomenal conclusion to Talia and Kostas’ story which gave me all the feels. It’s emotional, suspenseful and at times violent and bloody, but also contains romantic and sizzling scenes between the couple who have come a long way together since their arranged marriage. I strongly recommend that you read the first book in the duet to fully appreciate the journey they have been on and their backstory and that of other key characters. I loved Talia’s metamorphosis from innocent young woman to mafia queen, but also that of Kostas who grew to appreciate the light Talia brought into his dark world. He is a monster but he is Talia’s monster and there is nothing he will not do to secure her safety and happiness.

The cliffhanger at the end of book 1 had me reeling and I dived into this read as soon as I got the chance, eager for its conclusion. I will not give away any spoilers, except to say that Kostas suffers greatly from the loss of his wife and Talia’s situation appears hopeless. However, once Kostas gets an inkling of her fate he will leave no stone unturned, however unpalatable, until they are reunited, brutally destroying anyone in his wake.

Revenge when it comes is sweet for both Talia and Kostas but boy do the authors make them and their readers suffer for their HEA! My heart was in my mouth for much of the book as I navigated the many surprises, twists and turns, the family secrets and the betrayals. The final denouement could not have been more fitting.

Recommended for lovers of romantic suspense, especially those partial to stories set in the mafia world.
